Our   Story

Superfly is registered as an Electrical Contractor under Solomon Islands Electricity Authority. This means that Superfly’s installations are compliant under the Solomon Islands Electricity Act, unlike many other solar providers in Solomon Islands. Superfly is majority local owned and a member of the Sustainable Energy Industry Association of the Pacific Islands (SEIAPI).

Superfly has delivered a wide range of successful projects for clients such as the Australian Government Solomon Islands Partnership, Business Partnerships Platform, Solomon Islands Ministry of Health, The World Bank, Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), Pacific Community (SPC), Global Sustainable Energy Solutions (GSES), Barefoot Power and the Anglican Church of Melanesia.

Tapera Bird is the General Manager of Superfly and a TAFE NSW qualified electrician (allowing him to work as an electrician in Australia), and is now practising as a Grade A electrician in Solomon Islands.  He has more than a decade of solar installation experience and has received expert training in solar from Arizona State University in the USA, a world leader in photovoltaic solar energy.

Superfly was founded by Gavin Pereira, a solar engineer who earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Photovoltaics and Solar Energy from the University of New South Wales in Australia, graduating in 2007 with honours. He moved to Solomon Islands in 2011 with the aim to develop Superfly into a leading solar provider. He has always taken a ‘development’ approach to business and has worked closely with Solomon Islands citizens as shareholders, managers and installers.

OUR APPROACH
The remainder of our team comprises trained electricians and solar technicians with years of experience in solar power systems. As a customer, your get to benefit from the hundreds of solar power systems that our team has installed for customers around Solomon Islands. Seeing the sad environmental costs of dumped low-quality batteries, and the failure of PV systems due to poor workmanship has had a strong influence on why we priorities quality over price.
